Thank you for visiting my blog. You’ve seen my recent work, but here’s a little bit about me.
I was the first in my family to graduate High School, let alone go to college and get a degree. I have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. So, how on Earth did I end up a maternity and newborn photographer? The answer is, I have no idea! It was as if one day I took a sharp right turn and fell into a beautiful new world – a world of photography. I had a regular point and shoot camera in 2005 and I did not know what a DSLR was or that it existed. I had never considered myself creative to say the least. As I showed my pictures to friends and family, I received comments that my photos were unique and beautiful and that I should pursue a career in photography. The seed was planted and from there it grew.
In 2006, I purchased my first DSLR. After moving to Nashville, Tennessee with my husband in 2008, I started upgrading equipment. After my first child was born in 2009, I started building my portfolio. In January of 2010, I launched Jennie Pyfferoen Photography. During this time, I discovered other amazing newborn photographers such as Tracy Raver, Kelley Ryden, and Baby As Art. (Although the very first photographer I followed was the incredible dog photographer, Erin Vey). From that point, I knew I was destined to photograph newborn babies. Viewing the images taken by those unbelievable photographers made my heart leap out and excited me beyond belief. No other image had ever done that before.
Beginning in June 2011, I transitioned to focusing solely on newborn baby and maternity photography (except for Fall and Spring portrait sessions). My favorite part of photographing little newborns is that I get to know every mom and baby during each session and every one of them holds a special place in my heart. It’s also exciting when I photograph an expecting mom during a maternity session and then finally meet their precious baby for the newborn session.
Warmly,
Jennie

Jennie,
Thanks for sharing your story. I too have found myself in that same “photography hole”, although I have loved it all my life I find myself unsure whether or not to take the leap into “business” or just continue to dabble. Your story put a smile on my heart, thanks for the inspiration!
